This an awesomely weird post. It’s like the Lichtenbergian Ãœbergeist wrote it. So far, there’s my “impostor syndrome,” Craig’s “fake it till you make it,” and Mike’s Jurassic Park fixation.
And along the lines of this being the Lichtenbergian collective unconscious, the “write what you like” idea is a rewording of my “be like Walt Disney” approach to art. His was a “make the thing I want to see, and not the I think people will want to see” philosophy, and I have recently embraced that much more in my own work.
I think this might be the pore powerful comment in the whole thing.
“You are, in fact, a mashup of what you choose to let into your life. You are the sum of your influences.”
That’s where creativity comes from- what we let into our life (consciousness) and what we can reveal to others about how we’ve recombined and digested what we’ve let into our life. If there’s any free will at all, that’s where it is- what we let into our life.
What’s not to like? Very good…Very positive.
I’m only on point 2 and thinking about how somebody/everybody at GHP needs to read this, and there’s the impostor syndrome right there on the page!
More later.

Very nice.
I like the idea of “climbing your family tree of writers.”

Just wow.
